GOZZART: FESTIVAL OF ARTS AND DESIGN

Our annual Festival of Arts and Design, GozzArt, is on Tuesday 7 November, from 4.30pm. Showcasing the work of our talented and creative students, GozzArt is always a whole lot of fun and we’d love to see you there. GozzArt features some amazing artworks from our Visual Arts students, live music, an art auction sale and raffles, art stalls, a fashion parade, performances from Drama and Dance students, as well as the annual Project XII film festival which showcases the final films from our Year 12 media students.

DISRUPTION FREE AND TEST WEEK

Disruption Free Period starts Monday 6 November and continues until Monday 13 November. Tests will then be conducted Tuesday 14–Friday 17 November (Test Week) with an alternative Test Week Timetable running throughout this period.

Please ensure that students do not have external appointments during College hours as this is a time when tests are occurring and assessments may be due.

REMEMBRANCE DAY ACTIVITIES

The first of the activities to commemorate Remembrance Day at the College is the display of the quilted wall hanging.  Several members of the community have worked hard to produce a beautiful quilted wall hanging, 1.2m x 2.8m, which is now displayed in the glassed area of green hubs.

On Wednesday 8 November, the poppy garden will be planted in the Domain, over 11700 handmade poppies will be on display (last year it was only 4100), accompanied by memorial crosses dedicated to family members of the College community. The display will be in place until the end of November. Please come and remember all serving members, past, present and future, from all nations and conflicts. There will be an official opening of the garden held on Thursday for all the contributors to this awesome display.

Small poppies will be available for sale to students and staff on Thursday and Friday. The poppies will be sold for a donation to the Gungahlin RSL Sub-branch, please bring some change to support this worthy cause.

The activities will conclude on Friday with the whole school assembly taking place in Town Square. It will commence at 12.00pm, during Connect so student attendance is compulsory. Members of the greater College community are invited to join with the students and staff for the ceremony and to visit the Poppy Garden.

ABSENCES

All students are expected to attend all classes in which they are enrolled. Absences that appear as ‘A’ in Appsence are considered unexplained.

Students must have all absences explained by Monday 13 November. Any absences not cleared by this date will be classed as unexplained and may jeopardise the successful completion of a unit.

LAST DAY FOR SUBMISSION OF SEMESTER 2 WORK

Students must submit any and all outstanding work for Semester 2 by Friday 17 November. No extensions can be considered past this date. Students who have not submitted 70% of the total assessment for any unit will receive a V grade for the unit and thus the unit will not count towards certificate requirements.

Any students requiring special provisions in the upcoming exams should contact Angela Ward via Schoology or visit the Inclusion Support staff in H0.29 so that we can arrange the assistance they need.
