Annual Nara University High School (NUHS) Visit
Ten students from Japan NUHS attended classes at Gungahlin College on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 October with their host and buddy students. The purpose of this program is to build relationships between Canberra and our sister city, Nara, and to provide opportunities to develop intercultural understanding. Japanese students received a warm welcome from the Gungahlin College community and shared time together, although their stay was short.
Nara delegation including Principal Mr Tsuji and course coordinator Ms Watanabe joined lunch hosted by Principal Heather Paterson, Sabina Imamovic, Matthew Barry, Frederick Hayes and Michiko Barber. The lunch was provided by Heather Mutton and her hospitality students. This is their fourth visit to Gungahlin College and both principals felt that our friendship has grown over the years. Heather stated her belief in her speech that this program will make a positive impact on the future relationships between the two countries.
We are looking forward to their return in 2018.
