What is on – Week 5

What is on – Week 5

This week you should have received an email with a link and unique code to complete the 2017 School Satisfaction Survey about your level of satisfaction with some key aspects of our college. The survey results will contribute to our college improvement processes. It won’t take much time (about five minutes) and will help us greatly to understand areas where we are doing a good job and areas for further development.

Your responses will be combined with those of other parents and carers to give us a picture of how satisfied parents and carers are with our school. The survey includes general satisfaction items together with the school climate module. This module is part of a longitudinal study being conducted with assistance from researchers at the Australian National University.

Your survey responses will be anonymous, however, if you choose to answer the voluntary demographic questions, survey administrators may be able to identify you in some circumstances. If that is the case, your responses may be regarded as personal information and will be handled in accordance with the Territory Privacy Principles set out in the Information Privacy Act 2014.

If you have more than one child attending the College, please fill out a separate questionnaire in relation to each child. If you did not receive an email for each child in your family, please contact the Front Office as each access code can only be used once. If you need help in accessing the internet or completing the survey, please talk with your child’s teacher or contact the Front Office.

On Wednesday 30 August, Gungahlin College will be running a Parent Forum from 6.00–7.00pm on Supporting your student in the final journey of secondary education. There will be a discussion on:

  • The range of pathways after Year 12
  • Supporting  your student – academically and pastorally
  • Life after school – employability, moving out of home, finances

This forum is targeted to support our parents to know, understand and support their young people in their journey beyond secondary education, both emotionally and academically. There will be plenty of opportunity for Q&A.

Please ensure that students who ride bicycles to college have a good quality bike lock as there have been a number of bike theft incidents at schools in the region. We are currently working on a more secure bike storage solution for students as a matter of urgency.
