FUNERAL SERVICE DETAILS

On Tuesday 21 March, we forwarded details for the funeral service of a member of the Gungahlin College community to all students via Schoology. Students attending the funeral will need the support of their family. Students who will be absent from College to attend the funeral should notify their Connect teacher via Schoology.

If you need any further information or assistance, please contact one of our pastoral care team on 61421000.

PARENT TEACHER NIGHT – 6 APRIL 2017

Parent Teacher interviews will take place at the College on Thursday 6 April from 3.30–7.30pm. Parents book interviews online via the PTO booking system. Instructions and login details will be sent to families in Week 9.

PROGRESS REPORTS

Progress reports will be emailed to families with PTO login details in Week 9.

VET NEWS – NORTH TRAINING REGISTERED TRAINING ORGANISATION (RTO)

In January Gungahlin College RTO amalgamated with Dickson College RTO and we are now trading as North Training. For students doing our VET courses this has little impact and it is business as usual. It is planned that in future this will enhance curriculum offerings for students. However, students who studied VET courses in 2016 at Gungahlin College are being issued statements of attainment or vocational certificates that reflect their achievements in 2016. These are official documents and should form part of the student’s CV. Further certificates will be issued at graduation this year that reflect the achievement of competencies in 2017. This is a good opportunity for students to reflect on their vocational achievements and assess their overall progress in their VET courses. If students have not  yet received their certificates they should come to Careers on Monday–Wednesday of Week 9 or 10 and see Sue Birkett to sign for their certificates.

WELCOME THROSBY AND TAYLOR

This year we welcome Throsby and Taylor to the Gungahlin College Priority Enrolment Area. We are happy to discuss any matters regarding senior secondary education with our new Gungahlin College families.

DEFENCE NEWS – ADF FAMILIES SURVEY CLOSING SOON

Thank you to the families that have taken time out to complete the survey already. I would like to encourage those who have not yet done so to take a few minutes of your time to do so. Having your say via these surveys helps improve the services offered to the Defence community.

The survey closes on Friday 31 March 2017. All partners and parents of permanent ADF members (including those on CFTS) are encouraged to take part, help them understand your family’s experiences, particularly around partner employment and support services for ADF members and their families.

Complete the online survey now www.defence.gov.au/dco or www.dfa.org.au

THANK YOU AND CALL FOR SPONSORS

Thank you to Jess Smith at McGrath Real Estate Gungahlin for generously donating a weekly prize for staff which is awarded in line with our three strategic priorities – Inspiring Teaching, Successful Transitions and Vibrant Community. The prize winners for Week 7 were Yun-mi Lee and Richard Nolan.

The College is seeking another business who might be interested in supporting a small weekly prize for our students. This would be announced in this space each week and the contributing business would be acknowledged. Please contact us on 6142 1000 or gungahlincollege@ed.act.edu.au.
